Kids will love lounging under umbrellas on this iconic sand dune for ocean divers. Expect the three-mile beach and full-length boardwalk to be packed on good days, but souvenirs with senior chaperones should fend off the hordes. If you prefer more space to yourself, head to the eastern end of the peninsula and find a spot on the sand at Brighton or Manhattan Beach, both on the quieter side. Coney Island’s Luna Park offers nothing but good times during the summer season. There are plenty of activities for all ages, rated from “Extreme Thrill” to “Mild Thrill”, and there are less noisy rides for younger children (such as Beach and Tea Party Spinning Bowls), which are exciting but not scary like Lynn. Ride the Trapeze and Coney Island Hang Glider and the absolutely thrilling (definitely scream-worthy) Thunder, Shotgun and Coney Island Classic Cyclone. There are also classic games on offer, from Whac A Mole to Water Raker. As an added bonus, Luna Park offers free ride points for good grades during certain parts of the summer.

After a day of fun in the sun, there’s nothing like a hot dog and a cold soda at Nathan’s. A Scharf Chili Cheese Dog, a pile of sliced cheese fries, or a Double Beef Cheeseburger or Grilled Cheeseburger to fill grown stomachs. Kids might prefer crispy chicken tenders, skinny wings, or a simple super cheeseburger. Don’t miss the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island on July 4th.
Get up close to the creatures that swim ashore at New York’s own aquarium. Interested children will see live fish of the Pacific coast and see several species from the East River. Water sports include a daily sea lion show (11am, 1pm and 3.30pm), as well as sea lions, sea otters, penguins, seals and walruses for families to watch. Luna Park isn’t the only place to enjoy Coney Island! Along with packed roller coasters, this classic theme park offers fun kids rides like the spinning Dizzy Dragons and Tilt-a-Whirl that parents and kids can enjoy together. Older kids can do it in their own bumper cars or in the Spook-A-Rama for scary scenes. Before you go, take a ride on the 1920s Ferris wheel, which lifts kids 50 meters into the air for spectacular views of the water.

In the fall, after Labor Day, our minds change along with the cooler weather, and we’re ready for some fall-themed fun. St. Louis area is going all out for the family vacation this weekend. Here is our list of the 15 best events September 9-11 for us and your kids. Now get ready to have fun!
1. Autumn garden festival at the Magic House. Kids love farm animals, young and old, and farm animals are part of the farm-themed fun at Fall Farm Fest at the Magic House. Local farmers will teach the kids the tricks of the trade, and there will also be farm equipment for the kids to look at. This is a great way for your kids to learn more about where their food comes from. Fall Farm Fest will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 2:30. and is included in regular admission.

2. Insect hunts in the butterfly house. Kids can hold the net and catch cute and not-so-cute bugs they find in your garden. At Garden Hunt, staff entomologists will help children identify the insects they catch, while adults learn to attract butterflies to their gardens and build native beehives. There will also be games, crafts and all the fun Butterfly House has to offer. For 2-year-olds and their families. The scavenger hunt will be held on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is included in the regular admission to the Butterfly House.
3. Art Fair and Creative Palace of St. Louis. The St. Louis Art Fair is one of the annual events that many families look forward to every year, and this year the children’s area is called the Palace of Creativity.
