Of course, there’s a fireplace for chilly winter nights, as well as a solar-heated pool and spa for warmer days. Of course there is a beautiful fully fenced yard for your dog to enjoy.

Another wonderful place to stay in rural Victoria is Clement House in Penalla. A 2 1/2-hour drive north of Melbourne on the Hume Highway, it’s close enough for a luxurious weekend getaway.
Clement House is a luxurious B&B set in a Victorian family home, with a variety of accommodation options to choose from, all beautifully decorated. The Deluxe Queen Studio has a kitchenette, while the Deluxe Queen Suite has its own fireplace at the front of the house.

Whenever dog friendly accommodation in Victoria is talked about I always hear a lot of recommendations for Best Friend Holiday Retreat. Located in the Tarra Valley, about 2 1/2 hours south-east of Melbourne, this rainforest park is specially designed for those traveling with their dogs.
Some of the special features include separate caravan and camping sites, six secure fenced areas where dogs can exercise, a water hut and a dog-friendly playground and large ball field. There are also dog friendly cottages with fenced gardens. All dogs are expected to sleep inside at night!
If you need to go out without your dog, you can use luxury kennels during the day. While there’s plenty of fun on site, including a nearby waterfall and rock pool, the dog is perfect for swimming or borrowing a Monopoly coin game.
Best Romantic Getaways In The Victoria High Country 2024
A five-minute drive from Daylesford, Hollow Lock Estate is a lovely dog-friendly retreat. There is a secure 1/2 acre dog exercise area on site, and hiking trails lead to nearby dog-friendly Wombat State Forest.
Choose between Stoney or Cottage. Stoney is a studio-style cottage perfect for a couple, plus a dog or two small dogs. The suite is very spacious with room for up to four guests. There is also a practical covered balcony. Each has an indoor fireplace and is completely self-contained. A complimentary breakfast pack is provided, as well as wine and chocolate.
When I visited the Yarra Valley, instead of returning to Melbourne at the end of the day, we stayed at Wigley Bottom Farm near Healesville.
At Wiggley Bottom Farm you can choose between the main farm building or an apartment in the cottage, suitable for two adults and two children. We were glad we chose the cottage which was very quiet and offered beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Choose from the two-bedroom Ferny Reach or Igloo Cottages or the three-bedroom Villa or Canopy, which can accommodate up to nine guests. All cottages are independent and have their own fenced garden. A two-night or minimum stay usually applies.
Dogs are very welcome with a comfortable bed, blanket, dog bowls and homemade treats. Let them sleep on indoor furniture. There are plenty of dog friendly bush walks on the doorstep and Otway Forest Park next door.

For a selection of dog-friendly accommodations on the Great Ocean Road, head to the west side of the road. There are plenty of dog-friendly lodges when you visit Warrnambool, Port Fairy and Portland, including many affordable options. We stayed in a cabin at Gum Tree Caravan Park in Port Fairy on our trip along the Great Ocean Road.
We enjoyed our stay in a beautiful and modern studio cabin. Of course our dog was welcome to stay with us for only $10 per night (as of 2019) and the park owner was very friendly.
The nearby town of Fairydale is a lovely place. I recommend getting a list of the many historic buildings, taking a self-guided tour, or walking the waterfront with your pup.
For a more secluded beach holiday, head to Golden Beach Cabins at Golden Beach in Central Gippsland, 3 hours east of Melbourne. These dog-friendly cottages are located across an impressive 90-mile stretch of coastline!
