Because Jackson Hole is such a major tourist and ski destination, the hospitality industry wants to make it as easy as possible for visitors to bring their pets on vacation to this incredibly beautiful corner of Wyoming. Why should pet owners have fun? Let your onion play too! There are many hotels and inns that welcome pets, usually for a small fee.

Hotel Terra Jackson Hole

• Alpenhof Lodge: Two pets up to 50 pounds for an additional $30 per pet per night. Pet friendly rooms are limited.

• Inn on the Creek: Up to two pets are allowed. A daily fee of $25 is added to the room rate.

• Snow King Resort: No weight or breed restrictions; maximum two pets per room. Pets are only allowed in hotel rooms, not apartments.

Pets should not be left alone in your hotel room. If you don’t want to take them with you during the day, they can enjoy stimulation from friends and other four-legged friends either during the day or at night for a special cat-dog session. We recommend Happy Tails Pet Resort at Spring Creek Animal Hospital and DogJax.

Grand Teton National Park also offers pet-friendly accommodations, such as Jackson Lake Lodge & Cottages, Colter Bay Village Cabins & Tent Cabins, as well as campgrounds and RV parks that operate within the park.

When it comes to traveling in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, a good rule of thumb is that your pet can go anywhere in the car (roads, campgrounds, picnic areas) as long as it is on a leash. Dogs are not allowed on the unpaved trails of either park, limiting the day trips and excursions visitors can take while visiting the area.

Several restaurants/cafes around Jackson have dog-friendly patios during the summer months, including Cafe Genevieve, Cowboy Coffee, Cutty’s Bar and Grill, Silver Dollar Bar and Grill, Bubbas-Bar-B-Que and Sidewinders Tavern.

Dogs are required to be on a leash on all trails and are not allowed in city parks. However, there are several dog-friendly areas in the Jackson Hole area that can be easily identified by the PAWS Mutt-Mitt pocket machines at trailheads.

Favorite places to exercise your dog are Emily’s Pond on the Snake River and south of the Westbank River Dam. These sites are on both sides of the Snake River – with great views of the Tetons – and are accessible from HWY 22 as you head towards Teton Village and Wilson. An extensive network of trails near the Snow King base area, Cache Creek is one of the most popular places for locals and visitors to bring their dogs for a walk. You can also head to the Gros Ventre National Forest to take you and your dog for a swim in Slide Lake. Check out the Jackson Hole Pet Map.

There are places in the valley, including the Bridger Teton National Forest, that have campgrounds that will allow your dog to roam free. However, for the safety of your dog and passing wildlife, it is important to keep your dog in your area and under control at all times.
