Top 8 Dog Friendly Things To Do In London
Berwick Museum and Gallery is open from April to late autumn and dogs are welcome. It’s a great museum with a variety of exhibits. My favorite part is the medieval Berwick section upstairs where you can take your dog for a dragon walk and there are all sorts of silly mirrors.

Alnwick’s Book Exchange is one of the largest second-hand bookshops in the world. It is very charming, has a unique character and pays homage to the train stations of the past.
There is a children’s play area and don’t forget to look up to see the train passing between the shelves. Dogs are welcome in the pet-friendly areas of the bookshop (which also has seating) and the café. Watch this video to share our experience visiting Barter Books with Fozzy.
Pet Friendly Holidays, Dog Friendly Breaks & More
Hexham Old Gaol is located in the center of Hexham and is dog friendly. Open from April to late autumn. The museum, the oldest surviving purpose-built prison, presents the lives of convicts from the 14th century through interactive exhibits, including inventories and dungeon tours.

Warkworth Castle was one of the best places we visited with Folds and Ollie. It’s not big so it’s never crowded, but there’s enough to explore and it’s worth a visit. Warkworth itself is very dog friendly and the castle often hosts special events.

The Best Dog Friendly Beaches In The Uk
Dogs travel free on Britain’s oldest railway and are welcome on odd days. Tanfield asked that the dogs be kept on a leash and not be allowed to leave their places. It’s a nice trail and well worth checking out and there are some great walks around Causey Arch.
The Aln Valley Railway operates steam, tempo and diesel trains in Alnwick and is a great place to enjoy a family day out with your dog (especially if you combine it with the Barter Books brigade). You can read our full visit guide here.
Alne Valley Railway allows one dog per adult, a maximum of 10 dogs per carriage and visitors should keep dogs away from seats.
Speaking of trains, a quick note, Stephenson’s Railway in North Tyneside used to allow dogs on trains, but this is no longer the case. The latest information can be found here.
Dog Friendly Things To Do In London
Ford & Etal in Northumberland is very dog friendly and has several attractions that allow dogs indoors, including:

Let me start by saying that dogs are not allowed in the state rooms of the main castle, but there are plenty of places for them to enjoy themselves. In addition to hotels, indoor spaces where dogs are welcome include:
Dogs are not allowed in the main museum, but are welcome to explore the historic buildings on the grounds, and the cafe has a covered outdoor area where dogs can sit with their owners (overlooking the beautiful children’s playground).
Top 7 Dog Friendly Activities In Liverpool
Dogs are welcome to visit Eshott Airport and have access to a dog-friendly indoor viewing area/cafe with a host. It’s a beautiful relaxation area with interesting exhibits and you can watch several planes take off and land (if you time it right). The food in the cafe is great. Read our full review here.

It’s always worth checking if some of your favorite stores allow dogs, you might be surprised. For example, some areas of John Lewis and Fenwick welcome dogs.
There are too many dog-friendly bars and cafes to list here, but I’m sure you know your favourites. If you want to visit somewhere nearby quickly and easily, there are a few things to keep in mind.
Top Dog Friendly Caravan Holiday Destinations
Dogs on leads are welcome in all areas of Sunderland Museum, including the Airport Hangar, WW2 Street, Romney Military Museum and more.
The Emporium Ice Cream Shop in Cobridge is very dog friendly. Your dog can join you in the indoor seating and they even sell special dog treats and treats.
Heugh Battery Museum, Hartlepool Heugh Battery houses Britain’s only WW1 battlefield and the museum houses various military artefacts. Entry is free (donations welcome) and dogs are allowed everywhere, including the super-affordable Poppy Tea Rooms.
Jarrow Hall is a beautiful Anglo-Saxon museum and village farm/rare farm. In general, dogs are welcome in all areas, but sometimes restrictions have to be put in place if there are currently outbreaks of disease (check their website to see if this is currently the case). The adjacent Hive Cafe is also dog-friendly.
Dog Friendly Leicester
Most indoor areas and buildings in Beamish do not allow dogs, but the gardens and plenty of indoor space are dog-friendly and well worth a visit. Indoor areas where dogs are usually allowed include:
I just thought it was worth adding that dogs are allowed on most public transport including the subway. This comes in handy when it’s raining and you don’t feel like you’re driving wet, but you need to go somewhere.
This is obvious, but when my kids were little, they loved trips to Free Farm (aka “the family pet”). It’s always worth keeping these options in mind if you need to leave the house with your children during bad weather. Most pet stores will cater for any dog that visits them, and most garden centers welcome dogs (although check their restrictions in the cafe).
Eden Camp in North Yorkshire is super dog friendly. Dogs are allowed in the designated areas of all exhibition cabins (of which there are many) and the cafe.
Top Dog Friendly Places For Staycations
The museum is a former POW camp and displays a number of interesting exhibits on various aspects of the war. Some show kennels are dark/have strobe lights etc…but they are well marked outside and easy to avoid if your dog is nervous. Read our guide to visiting Camp Eden with your dog.
Ryedale Folk Museum is very close to Eden Camp and you can visit both on the same day. Dogs are welcome in all areas of the museum, including the buildings. It’s not a cafe but there are dog friendly tea rooms and pubs in the village.
The museum celebrates the area’s history with heritage and historic buildings spanning a long period (including the Witches’ Cave), rare farm animals and 1950s streets.
Dogs can ride with you on the North York Moors Railway (except special events and dining cars). Tickets are £3 and we ask that you do not leave your dog on the seat. Fozzy and I had a great trip on this railroad last summer.
