With views of beautiful cliffs and rolling farmland, Ringstead Bay has a long, wide sand and gravel beach perfect for a stroll with your furry friend. From the National Trust car park there is a one mile path up the cliffs which takes you down to the beach which is a pleasant walk before you reach the sand with incredible views of boats, hang gliders and the Isle of Portland.
Your dog will love the smell of pebbles, stones and grass on this pristine beach! It’s part of the Jurassic period, so look for fossils here and you’ll find them scattered among the sand.
You’ll find Preston Beach just outside of Weymouth, next to Greenhill Gardens, before you reach Bowlies Cove. This small stretch of pebble beach is dog friendly and much quieter than the main beach. That’s why locals love to bring their dogs here all year round.

Smallmouth Harbor can be seen from the road that connects Portland to Weymouth. It is a grassy beach with lots of sand and gravel that slopes gently down to shallow water. It’s a great place to walk, thanks to the smooth terrain and the beautiful view of the Isle of Portland!
A small row of houses overlooks the beach, but the long grass and rocky terrain help to hide it from plain view for a nice and peaceful walk. Behind the bay begins Rodwell Road, a trail that follows an abandoned, paved railroad track. Dogs are welcome on all trails.
